Roughton Jubilee Committee (2002).
Following discussions (by email, in person, and on the telephone) with Rachel Cooper, Rosemary Fereday and Gill Hunt, it was decided today to distribute the remaining funds held by the Committee, which originated from the 2002 Jubilee celebrations, supplemented by income generated at the Garden Party held at Grove Farm in 2007.
During the course of 2011 discussions had taken place about allocating the funds (some £900) towards any event that might be arranged for the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee, or distributing the residue amongst various organisations within the village of Roughton.
The funds, totalling £954.33, will be distributed equally between Roughton Village Hall, 1st Rural Scouts, St Mary's Church, St Mary's VA Primary School, Roughton Under Five's Group, Roughton Rascals, Roughton Youth Club (KrazeeKidz), the Monday Craft group, Inspiring Women (previously the Women's Institute), the Bowls Club, the Parish Council and the Diamond Jubilee Committee.
A small amount has been deducted from the total to cover postage costs where necessary, and £59.00 has been repaid to Mrs R Cooper for a deposit paid to a caterer for a Diamond Jubilee Lunch which was aborted during the planning stages. These costs have been deducted from the total held at the bank.
Each organisation will receive a cheque in the sum of £74.50. Once the cheques are all presented, the account will be closed.
Further, it was also decided, in the light of new information from what used to be `Heartstart´, that the de-fibrillator, housed at Roughton Service Station, would be de-commissioned. It is due for expensive replacements of pads and batteries, and is no longer `state of the art´. This was a project proposed to the Jubilee Committee by the children of Roughton Primary School - and , while utterly commendable, it should be noted that it has never been used.
It is time to hand on the baton to new people, with new talents, enthusiasms and interests.
